The governing body of European football UEFA has started an investigation by Swedish football star Zlatan Ibrahimović and his alleged connections with a gaming operator.

According to UEFA, the investigation will focus on Ibrahimović's alleged financial interest in an unnamed operator, who will be in violation of the ethical codes set by the sports global governing body, FIFA.

Although UEFA did not mention the operator that Ibrahimović allegedly has ties to, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported earlier this month that the player is part owner of Bethard through his unknown AB business.

Ibrahimović, who plays in the Italian series A-club AC Milan, began to work with Bethard in March 2018 in an ambassador and development role.

Point two in Article 23 under the third paragraph of section five of the FIFA Code of Ethics, says players cannot have financial interest in units, companies or organizations that "market, communicate, organize or conduct games, gambling, lotteries or similar events or transactions related to football matches and competitions ”.

When UEFA started the investigation, they quoted section four of Article 31 in their own disciplinary regulations, which enable the Ethics and Discipline Commission to conduct an investigation into alleged misdemeanors.

At that time, he played for the American Major League football team La Galaxy.
